This was an extensive landscape installation on Red Mountain in Aspen Colorado. The Charles Cunniffe designed house sits on top of Red Mountain with expansive views of Aspen. AVL worked for 3 years to ensure the landscape installation was completed as per the owner’s expectations. Due to site restrictions, all materials were placed using an overhead crane. This included 300+ tons of Chief cliff boulders (some were 7000 lbs), 30′ trees and hundreds of yards of compost, topsoil, and roadbase. There are over 600′ linear feet of walls. These walls were combinations of stone veneer, dry stack boulders and cut stone. Due to the size of the house, substantial screening was needed. This included a series of planters integrated into the structure. AVL successfully planted upright mugo pines and other material to achieve the look the customer desired. This project was a challenging but satisfying. AVL still currently maintains the property.
